Postman Observation Game is a fast-paced observation game where players build a city together and race to deliver letters to the correct locations as quickly as possible.
Using nearly 90 colorful building tiles, children create a different city layout each time they play. Once the city is built, players flip cards and search for matching locations before anyone else can deliver their letter.
This observation and matching game gradually increases in difficulty through multiple ways to play. Some rounds rely on matching pictures, while others require children to identify locations using descriptions, clues, or storybook characters.
Because the city changes each time, children practice observation, visual perception, attention to detail, memory, and quick decision-making without relying on fixed layouts or repeated answers.
The multiple levels of play make this family game approachable for younger children while still providing enough challenge to keep older siblings and adults involved.
Designed for 2–6 players ages 3+, Postman combines quick rounds, flexible difficulty, and changing layouts into a board game that many families return to again and again.
How to Play the Postman Observation Game
- Start by building your city using the colorful building tiles. Because the layout changes every time, no two mail routes look exactly the same.
- Once the city is built, flip over a card. Depending on the difficulty level, players may search for matching buildings, follow clues, or track down storybook characters and their homes.
- Players race to identify the correct building and place their letter token first. Then flip another card and do it again.
- Younger players can begin with picture-matching cards
- More advanced players can use description-based cards
- Older children and adults can combine card types for additional challenge
Rounds are quick, setup is simple, and because the city changes every time, there is always another delivery waiting.

Great to improve visual skills

If you have people who are visually inclined they will succeed at this game. If you have people who are not as visually inclined they can still participate and have a great time. The trickiest part is finding the three little pig homes etc. the first time. Thankfully the instruction booklet helps you be able to do that. We separated the easy cards from the harder cards and slowly built up our skills throughout the year. Added to our permanent game collection for years to come.

Favorite family game, even with a color-blind child

This game was a bit expensive, so we saved it for a Christmas gift. It became a family favorite! My son is red/green color blind, and I was concerned when I saw how much the game depended on color ID skills. But with some practice and determination, he has learned how to differentiate the houses in his own way! I would 100% recommend buying it for elementary students.
