As you know, several older versions of the very popular Singapore Math exist. The good news is that you can seamlessly switch from any other version to Primary Mathematics 2022. Primary Mathematics 2022 can be used with students of all abilities, but it is perfect for students who struggle with math. Its scope, pace, and review make it a much more manageable curriculum. Primary Mathematics 2022 covers math topics taught in U.S. public schools, so transitioning to any other U.S. curriculum should be straightforward.

After reading "Knowing and Teaching Elementary Mathematics" I was convinced that Singapore math was the way to go, but this just hasn't worked well for our family. The teachers manual does not feel like it was written for home educators, it is very detailed without actually being clear about how to teach a lesson, and I find more success just winging it with the books... though not much. This might be a great fit for some families, but we need something that has a clear, simple, straightforward plan. Pros: -Very attractive -lots of strategies taught for "outside the box" thinkers -All-inclusive Cons -Too many options presented at once -A lot of lessons present a concept leaning heavily on "outside the box" strategies, instead of keeping things simple -too much emphasis put on students understanding mathematical theory at a young age. Some students are ready for this, but many just don't have the critical thinking skill yet to make this sensible.

Not our favorite Math Curriculum!

We tried this Math curriculum out this year, it just wasn't for us. I have 4 kids and found that it just required too much of my time for each child. My kids were frustrated that they couldn't work as independently as they had in the past. We eventually had to just put it away and try something else. The concept seems great, but may not be a good fit if your kids like working independently or you are homeschooling multiple young kids.

Our favorite math curriculum!

Singapore is our family’s favorite math curriculum. The lessons are straightforward without any fluff, the pages are colorful and engaging, and the manipulatives add a nice kinesthetic touch to enhance leaning. The 4th grade level contains just the right amount of material. My only complaint is that that I wish this curriculum went up to high school levels.
