Quixo
A Parents’ Choice Gold Award Winner and a Mensa Select Winner, Quixo is one of the few strategic games played by both 2 or 4 players. In Quixo, the player chooses a cube from the perimeter, places it on the opposite end of the row/column, and shifts the entire row/column until one player manages to create a 5-in-a-row to win. Because all turns result in a row/column sliding, the playing surface changes with each move. Every play in Quixo can be offensive or defensive, but the best actions are both. This strategy results in a battle of wits, with each player carefully considering the implications of every move. Quickly learned by all, Quixo is a perfect coffee table game with attractive wooden pieces.
Setup:
25 cubes are placed in the center of the board. At the beginning of the game, the cubes all have a blank top face. The two players or teams choose who plays with crosses, who plays with circles, and who is to start.
The Object of the Game:
Make a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line from 5 cubes bearing your symbol.
Game Play:
On his turn, the active player takes a cube that is blank or bearing his symbol from the outer ring of the grid. He rotates it to show his symbol (if needed), then adds it back to the grid by pushing it into one of the ends of the row. Thus, a few pieces of the grid change places each turn, and the cubes slowly go from blank to crosses and circles. Play continues until someone forms a line of five cubes bearing his symbol, winning the game.

”Looking for a fun strategy game to play with the kids? Quixo is the perfect game to play!”
Read the Review”Quixo is a strategy game that can be played by 2 or 4 players. Quick to set up, quick to learn, and reasonably quick to play — so it definitely lives up to its name.”
Read the Review”Quixo moves quickly and depending on the skill level of the players a game can be very short, usually 10-15 minutes, making it a great family game that people can easily swap out for each round, without taking up the whole afternoon. For our Outside the Box kids with short attention spans this is also a plus.”
Read the Review”We really enjoyed Quixo and have added it to our family game night rotation of games. We prefer the 2-player version to the 4-player, but we do play both. It took my kids a few times playing to really start figuring out a strategy vs just constantly trying to block their opponent from winning. It's a little like chess in that aspect that you have to try and win while simultaneously keep your opponent from winning. The sweet simplicity, ease of set up, and simple to follow rules make this a perfect game for all ages.”
Read the Review”We all enjoyed playing Quixo. It might be intimidating for younger children, but I think ages 8 and up are sure to enjoy it. And younger children who enjoy planning ahead and strategy can also enjoy playing this game.”
Read the Review”Quixo is a game that is easy to learn how to play and doesn't take long to play. These are two things that my teens liked about the game.”
Read the Review”Quixo is a great game that constantly changes. Think of tic-tac-toe with a much more complex process.”
Read the Review”This game is a fun challenging game that is perfect for homeschooling, the coffee table or even family game night. We can play multiple rounds in 10 minutes so it is the perfect addition to our homeschool day.”
Watch the Video”Quixo is an entertaining and educational, hands-on game... My kids love having this game around, even my four-year-old asks to play it once in a while!”
Read the Review”Quixo is not only fun but beautiful as well. This is a game that can be proudly displayed in your home. No need to hide it away in a cardboard box.”
Read the Review”I love that this is a super fun game that pretty much anyone can play. It's quick and you learn a lot every time you play. I feel like there is so much learned from trial and error and after playing a few times you really start developing your strategies.”
Read the Review”The wooden pieces are nicely polished and fit into the tray so well that it’s perfect for leaving out on a side table for a quick game whenever the notion strikes you. Out of the box, it’s a pretty decorative accent that might tempt kids to put down their phones for a minute to mess around with it.”
