Rainbow Whirls
Rainbow Whirls gives classic peg play a colorful upgrade. With 16 chunky pegs, 16 smooth wooden rings, and a sturdy wooden board, this heirloom-quality set invites your child to sort, stack, balance, match, and experiment—all while building important early-learning skills.
Start with simple color matching by placing each ring onto its matching peg. Once that's mastered, the possibilities open up. Your child can build towering stacks, sort by color, create patterns, practice balancing, or invent entirely new ways to play. Because there is no single "right" way to use Rainbow Whirls, children can explore at their own pace while developing confidence and creativity.
As your child plays, fine-motor control, hand-eye coordination, grip strength, visual discrimination, and spatial reasoning grow naturally through hands-on exploration. These foundational skills support later success in writing, math, and problem-solving.
Sized just right for small hands, Rainbow Whirls offers enough challenge to keep young learners engaged while remaining approachable for beginners. The open-ended design also gives it surprising staying power, allowing children to revisit it in new ways as their abilities grow.
Made from sustainably harvested beechwood and finished with non-toxic, water-based stains, Rainbow Whirls is as durable as it is beautiful. It's the kind of timeless learning toy that can move from child to child and still look ready for another round of play.
How to Use Rainbow Whirls
- Begin by introducing just a few pegs and rings. Show your child how the rings fit onto the pegs, then step back and let exploration take over. Some children will immediately start matching colors, while others will be more interested in stacking, sorting, or simply handling the pieces.
- As your child's confidence grows, add more pegs and rings to the activity. Encourage color matching, create simple patterns, or challenge him to sort all the pieces by color. Naming the colors as you play naturally reinforces early language skills.
- Once matching becomes easy, experiment with stacking multiple rings on a single peg or building tall towers by combining pegs and rings. These activities strengthen fine-motor control, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving skills while introducing concepts such as balance and sequencing.
- Don't be surprised when your child invents entirely new ways to play. Rainbow Whirls works just as well for imaginative play as it does for structured activities. One day the pegs may become candles on a birthday cake; the next, they may become trees in a colorful forest.
- Short play sessions of 10 to 15 minutes are often enough for younger children, though many will happily continue longer. Follow your child's interest level and let the learning happen naturally.
With every stack, sort, match, and tower, your child is strengthening the foundational skills that support future success in writing, math, and problem-solving.
Whether stacking, sorting, or creating imaginative patterns, little hands will enjoy hours of engaging play that also builds essential cognitive skills.

Cleaning Instructions
Use a cloth dampened with warm water. You may mix 1 part vinegar (white or apple cider) with 10 parts water. Lightly spray the solution onto a clean cloth (not directly on the toy), and use the cloth to wipe the toy, ensuring that it does not saturate the wood. This works extremely well in destroying bacteria and cleaning wooden toys. Do not submerge in water or place in dishwasher. Disinfectants (even organic baby wipes) should not be used as they can damage the water-based coatings that protect the colorful stains beneath. Air dry completely.
