Welcome to spelling that actually sticks—without the stress!
Spelling You See: Wild Tales is a wildly fun, low-pressure way to help your child become a confident, capable speller at his own pace. No tests, no weekly word lists, and best of all—no prep work for you. Just open, start the timer, and let the spelling adventure begin.
This level is perfect for children who already know letter sounds and can spell many common words. Wild Tales builds on those early skills with carefully chosen nonfiction passages about amazing animals. Your child will highlight letter patterns, copy short passages, tackle creative dictation, and even enjoy "No Rule Day," where storytelling and illustrating take center stage.
What makes Wild Tales so wonderfully different?
The Instructor's Handbook is compact but packed with helpful guidance, answer keys, and dictation material. It walks you through every step, making it super simple to support your student—without becoming a spelling drill sergeant.
Weekly Routine:
By the end of the year, your child will have tackled vowel and consonant chunks, endings, tricky spellings, and patterns galore—all while reading about snakes, sea otters, elephants, and more. With Wild Tales, spelling becomes something to look forward to, not dread.
Let the wild spelling safari begin!

In January 2022, Spelling You See introduced several updates to the Wild Tales level. Two of the most significant changes are the lovely new illustrations in the Student Book and the reorganization of the Instructor's Handbook.
Wild Tales is a starting point for many students entering the program, which means it serves a broad range of ages. The original cartoon-style illustrations did not do justice to the well-researched animal passages. Additionally, the first seven lessons were a continuation of the nursery rhyme theme in Level B - Jack and Jill, making the content seem as if it were for a younger audience. The new realistic illustrations and updated animal passages in lessons 1-7 are delightful for old and young users.
The Instructor's Handbook has been reorganized to include a quick-start guide, lesson-by-lesson instruction, and solutions for the "chunking" activities. It also includes expanded activity explanations, a highlighted section of new material or unusual things to focus on, and weekly quick-reference graphics illustrating each day's activities with reminders of time limits. Spelling You See has also updated their online resources by providing new videos.
