Stabilo Woody 3-in-1 Pencils are a multi-surface art tool for kids that combine crayon, colored pencil, and watercolor in one format, designed for early drawing, coloring, and writing.They work especially well for younger children who are still building hand control. The thick barrel and 10 mm core make them easy to grip and allow color to go down smoothly without much pressure—helpful when “press harder” isn’t working.
These pencils can be used on paper, cardboard, glass, and other smooth surfaces. Color shows up boldly, and because the pigment is water-soluble, your child can use a brush to blend it into a watercolor effect or wipe it off non-porous surfaces with a damp cloth.
The soft color core supports steady coloring, tracing, and early writing practice, building fine-motor control along the way.
This gives your child one tool that handles a range of art activities, so he can move from coloring to experimenting without switching supplies—or losing momentum halfway through.
How To Use Stabilo Woody 3-in-1 18-Piece Set
- Start with any surface—paper, cardboard, glass, or even a window. These multi-surface pencils are designed to go down smoothly with very little pressure, making them easy for younger children to control.
- Let your child color, trace, or doodle freely. The thick shape is easy to grip, so even early writers can stay in control while they work.
- To shift into watercolor, dip a brush in water and blend the color directly on the page. The pigment softens quickly, turning simple drawings into painted ones without switching supplies.
- Working on glass or another smooth surface? Use a damp cloth to wipe it clean and start again.
- That’s it—one set, multiple ways to create, and no complicated setup in between.

Woody Pencils are 15.6mm in diameter and approximately 11cm (4.25") in length. Actual length will vary due to variations in sharpening.
The most common application is to apply the color to paper and then blend with a wet brush. However, you can also use a wet brush to pick up color from the tip of the pencil, draw onto wet paper, or shave off bits of the pencil core to dissolve in water on your palette. We don't recommend dipping pencils in water as the water can weaken the pencil core and create issues when you go to sharpen it later.

These pencils are the best!! I ordered them with my son’s Pre-K curriculum kit last fall. They are the perfect size for little hands! Okay these are way pricy… but my kids love drawing on the walls and I wanted to find a way to allow them to and this is it! These wash right off and they can draw all they want. Super smooth and fun colors. They even get excited to help clean it up after! I’m buying another set as we speak.
