Stages: Blocks
Building with blocks is a childhood classic, but Stages: Blocks adds a structured challenge that keeps the learning growing right alongside your child. Using 40 colorful wooden blocks and 120 progressively difficult challenge cards, children move from simple one-block designs to increasingly complex structures that require careful observation, planning, and problem-solving.
Each challenge encourages your child to analyze shapes, visualize spatial relationships, and recreate designs using the correct combination of blocks. As the difficulty increases, so do the opportunities to strengthen spatial reasoning, visual discrimination, fine motor skills, concentration, and perseverance.
Graduated challenges make it easy for children to experience early success while continuing to develop more advanced skills over time. Many children enjoy working through the cards independently, while others prefer collaborating with a parent, sibling, or friend to solve particularly tricky designs.
Once the challenge cards have been mastered, the free Stages: Blocks app for iPhone and iPad provides additional building ideas and inspiration, extending the play value even further.
One practical note: while the magnetic-closure box is attractive, families who use the set frequently may prefer transferring the contents to a sturdier storage container for long-term use.

A Must Have!

These blocks are a bit expensive but so so SOOOOO worth it! The box the blocks come in is sturdy and easily opened and closed. There are HUNDREDS of cards with ideas for building that start simply and become increasingly difficult, building upon previous skills. Once you're done with the cards, you can download an app for countless more building ideas and projects. These blocks are colorful, sturdy but light weight and just plain fun. My toddler loves to do "skoo" with my 4 year old and they love to play together. The blocks are excellent for teaching shapes, geometry, architecture and fine motor skills. Everyone absolutely LOVES these blocks and get excited when I break these out to play with. Ditch the tablets and bring on the blocks!

More than wood blocks

Our daughter used for pre-K and she really challenged her self with it. Our 1-2 yr old loves to just play with them and stack them. Good colors & shapes for the young ones. I’ll use it again.

I think this is a fantastic resource for fine motor skills and critical thinking. I think it would have served our family better if we would have bought this a little earlier but not that we have it I can't wait to use it with future children.

The cards were great and loved that they had a space for me to write when it was completed. It was easier for my kiddos when I helped get the pieces for him. After a couple months, it was all independent work for him and he was able to do it without help.

Not for the easily frustrated

These are pretty blocks and it has a lot of nice cards that give you ways to build but if they fall over...watch out! Temper tantrum inducing for us. My son loves to build and loves blocks but I think he would enjoy magnetic ones more. These fall over really easy.

One of our favorite things

I almost didn't get this. We have blocks. My daughter doesn't use them. Why would this be any different? But it is different. My daughter had a lot of trouble with it at first. She had trouble turning the piece the right direction. It was interesting to see the gears turn in her head as she studied the photo. It's starts easy, one block. Good thing, too. My daughter is intelligent, she still had a little trouble with those pesky triangles. Now she is over halfway through. We've been doing it for 10 months. She still loves it. Probably more than thinkplay. She is making eleborate structures. When she has done 3 or 4 cards, she'll build towers with her 11 year old sister. It's great to have her work on this while I do math with her older sister. If you are on the fence about this, I totally recommend it. Here is a photo of my four year old with one of her creations, after she finished the challenges. Ignore the dirty dishes.

These blocks are amazing. I use them with my special needs kiddos i work with. Most of them are unable to make structres other than just piling the blocks on top of each other and trying to balance them. Its awesome that this kit comes with pictures because thats how we teach them. Normally i build something with legos and take pictures for the kiddos to build from the picture but these blocks come with pictures already. Plus they start off VERY simple so the kids can learn what tthey need to do one step at a time.

Both my kids love it. My oldest for the building and my youngest for the knocking down after its built. I even enjoy playing with it when they have other games out as well.
