Story Time Chess
Story Time Chess
Back in the '80s, when Timberdoodle was just getting launched, homeschoolers were known for their denim jumpers, wheat grinders, and love of chess. Fast forward nearly 40 years, and our fashion sense and household expectations have improved, but our passion for chess is just as strong. Has your family felt this homeschooling peer pressure? Or do you want some of the proven benefits that chess provides - strengthening academic performance, sharpening critical thinking, and boosting emotional intelligence - then Story Time Chess is a great place to start.

”What sets Story Time Chess apart is its ability to teach chess to young children (no chess experience is required). It does this using silly stores, colorful illustrations, custom chess pieces and a custom chess board. Children learn how to play chess through fun stories instead of rules!”Read the Review
My 4yo loves the stories and all of the characters. My 6yo can teach me how to play chess and frequently beats my mom! A wonderful way to teach chess and a great skill for kiddos to work on.
I can’t speak personally to this because I am not the chess player in the family, however from what I’ve observed, the boys (Colton, Ames, and now Rowan) really enjoy this game. It turns each piece into a storybook character to teach how the piece moves across the board, eventually leading your kiddo to play a full game of chess!
My husband likes chess so this was a neat bonding experience for him and my son, the story is set up in an engaging way and it kept our son interested and wanting to learn.
We used this for my 5-year old's Kindergarten year and will definitely continue to use it until all our children are ready for the regular chess board. It teaches the basics of chess in a fun way for children to understand, and uses stories to reinforce the pieces and the moves that can be done. I would definitely recommend this to others; it is well worth the price. In fact, my mom gifted it to my 5-year-old nephew for his birthday after we told her all about it!
My four and 2 year old have loved this game. We are very slowly working our way through the book and the mini games. I love that this will be good for all my kids and they will only love it more as they get older.
