The Ology: Ancient Truths Ever New
What does it mean that God is holy? Why did Jesus have to die? What is grace? The Ology helps families explore big theological questions in a way children can understand without oversimplifying the answers.
Written as a systematic theology for children, The Ology introduces foundational Christian doctrines through 71 short lessons organized into eleven sections. Topics include God, humanity, sin, salvation, the church, spiritual growth, and God's plan of redemption, helping children build a deeper understanding of what Christians believe and why it matters.
One of the book's greatest strengths is its ability to make complex ideas accessible. Through memorable illustrations, everyday analogies, engaging storytelling, and clear explanations, concepts such as adoption, justification, grace, and sanctification become understandable for children while remaining theologically faithful.
The lessons are rooted in Scripture and designed to encourage meaningful family discussions. Parents will appreciate the included discussion guidance, which makes it easy to adapt readings for different ages, attention spans, and schedules.
Unlike resources that focus primarily on Bible stories, The Ology helps children connect those stories to the larger truths they reveal about God. Rather than simply learning what happened, children begin to understand who God is, what He has done, and how His redemptive plan fits together across Scripture.
Suitable for family devotions, homeschool Bible study, or independent reading, The Ology offers a thoughtful introduction to Christian theology that grows alongside your child. It's a resource many families return to repeatedly as children's understanding deepens and new questions emerge.
For families seeking a Christ-centered theology curriculum, children's systematic theology, or a deeper approach to biblical literacy, The Ology provides rich teaching without sacrificing clarity, warmth, or accessibility.

I am reading this with a 6 & 4 year old. This is a book that will "grow" with them so we can read and reread as they grow up. It's beautifully illustrated so my kids love looking at the pictures as I read to them.

This is an amazing book! Each page has plenty of "white space" and a nice picture, to help make weighty topics less intimidating. This makes theology very easy to understand, and breaks it up in to manageable chunks. Reading one lesson takes only a few minutes, and can help start longer discussions or Q & A time. I have been going through this slowly with my 2nd (now 3rd) grader, and I think it's perfect for that early elementary age (but would work well for any age, as neither the wording or illustrations seem particularly "childish" to me).
