Yes, the Elite and Complete Kit have all the subjects you need for a standard school year. The Basic Kits, however, do not include science or history and are designed for customers who have other plans for those specific subjects.
Please note, every state has different requirements and may require additional material not found in a standard Curriculum Kit. For information on what your state requires, you can visit www.hslda.org or take a look at our state requirements page.
The Basic version of our curriculum kits contains math, language arts, and thinking skills. It’s the most economical choice and works for families who supplement history and science from the library, borrowing from friends, sharing with a sibling, etc. The Complete version contains everything in Basic, plus science, history, and hands-on learning tools. The Complete kit includes everything you would need for an entire year. The Elite kit contains everything in the Complete version, plus more fun add-ons. Elite is an outstanding option if you want all the bells and whistles!
Nope, and that's totally normal!
Here's the deal: Accreditation is for schools, not curriculum. Your local school district might be accredited, but their textbooks aren't. Accreditation looks at things like teacher degrees and classroom hours, not the books or materials being used. And since Timberdoodle kits aren't a school (they're a collection of awesome learning tools), there's nothing to accredit.
If you see a homeschool program claiming to be "accredited," just remember: it's the school that's accredited, not the curriculum.
And don't worry: no state requires homeschool curriculum to be accredited. (Phew!)
What you really want to know is: "Will Timberdoodle meet my state's homeschool requirements?" In most cases, the answer is yes. We meet or beat what's needed! However, every state's rules are a little different, so we recommend checking yours. (We even have a quick cheat sheet to help!)

Homeschooling is much easier when you have children from multiple grades work together. If the age range of your children is relatively narrow, take a look at both science and history courses and see if one set would work for your family. The Story of the World, The Mystery of History, Apologia, and Berean Science are series that work especially well for teaching multigrade students. However, math, language arts, and thinking skills are typically done independently by each student at his own level. We are always happy to help you customize your curriculum to put together the right combination of resources for your children.
No worries, you're not alone!
If you're unsure where to start, hop over to our Placement Tests page. It's a quick and easy way to make sure you find the best fit for your child.
If your child is between grades (it happens a lot!), you can also use our Custom Kit Builder to mix, match, and create a kit that's just right for your family.

Yes, you can! Check out our online Custom Kit Builder here.
Of course, we will always be happy to help you customize your kits for free over the phone or via email!
Yes! Nearly every item is available separately. However, some items with extremely limited availability are only available in the kits.
If you would like to purchase the Curriculum Kit, just make some changes, you can customize the Curriculum Kit by using our Custom Kit Builder.
The Curriculum Kits are designed for 1 student. However, your children can share the nonconsumable items. For the consumable items, we have Additional Student Kits. These are all the consumable items from the Basic, Complete, or Elite versions of our pre-built Kits. For Custom Kits you can contact us about which items you will need.
Yes, and it comes in three parts. First, your Curriculum Handbook introduces every item in your kit, with what it's for and tips for using it, plus a planner and sample weekly checklists for the year. Second, the Scheduler lays out every subject day by day, so you always know what's next. Third, each program's own teacher manual shows you how to teach the lesson, and some subjects teach the new idea for you, like Math-U-See's video lessons.
We pull from a wide range of resources, including numerous publishers and manufacturers, to create our curriculum kits. As a business owned by a Christian family, our family’s faith and values are frequently reflected in our classic curriculum kits. However, not all of the material in the kits is explicitly Christian. We include many resources from quality nonreligious publishers as well.
To meet the needs of families in charter schools and those looking for a faith-neutral curriculum, we offer nonreligious kits. They are near duplicates of our classic kits, but the history, science, and language arts are not based on a Christian worldview.
To help you know whether components have religious content, we note on each item whether it is faith-based.
The Timberdoodle classic curriculum kits are written from a Christian worldview and do occasionally include references to God and Jesus. However, they do not include a separate Bible curriculum. We strongly encourage daily family devotions and offer a selection of our favorite devotional materials. We don’t include them in kits because many are usable for multiple ages and years. And because God’s work in each family is unique, we are much more comfortable exposing you to what we consider the best all-around resources and letting you cherry-pick the most appropriate for your use and your situation.
