Berenstain Bears Big Book of Science
The Berenstain Bears have been introducing children to the world around them for generations, and The Berenstain Bears Big Book of Science and Nature brings science, nature, and discovery together in one oversized collection.
In this 190-page volume, Brother and Sister Bear join Professor Actual Factual to explore weather, seasons, animals, plants, simple machines, and other early science concepts through engaging stories, rhymes, and colorful illustrations.
This collection combines three books into one:
The Berenstain Bears' Almanac introduces seasons, weather patterns, holidays, and calendar concepts.
The Berenstain Bears' Nature Guide explores forests, ponds, meadows, plants, animals, and habitats while encouraging children to observe the natural world around them.
The Berenstain Bears' Science Fair introduces simple machines, basic physics concepts, and hands-on experiments that help children see science in everyday life.
Bright illustrations, rhythmic text, and familiar characters make complex ideas accessible to young learners. Along the way, children build vocabulary, strengthen observation skills, and develop an early understanding of STEM concepts through topics that naturally connect to their everyday experiences.
Parents will appreciate that the science content remains approachable and age-appropriate for preschool and early elementary students. While there are occasional references to evolution and nature-based origins, they are infrequent and easy for families to address according to their own preferences.
Whether shared as a read-aloud or explored independently by a curious young reader, The Berenstain Bears Big Book of Science and Nature offers an engaging introduction to the wonders of science and the natural world.

We love this book. Very simple and great visuals. We follow along during the calendar year and my daughter has the best time with it.

My boys (3 and 5) both love this book!! They love the Berenstain Bears and they love science so it’s a win-win! The illustrations are engaging and it’s packed with information in nice rhyming text. The book covers a variety of science topics like nature, machines, matter, etc. I highly recommend!

My 3 boys (10,7, & 4) love this book! They spend hours looking at it. Then we take a break and bring it back out again after a few weeks and they read it all over again. We have two copies of it and it's even better because they don't fight over it anymore.

A Wonderful Classic

So, I did not purchase this book with the kit, it was gifted to my 4 year old for Christmas from a grandparent. We love ANYTHING Berenstain Bears in our family. It's one of the few book series that grabs and holds the attention of all the kids in the house. Most of the text is in the form of rhyming which is captivating to little scholars and also makes the facts easier to remember. The concepts in the book are presented in an age appropriate manner with lots of illustrations and makes the educational concepts more engaging and fun. A wonderful book, definitely add this to your home library.

Read Over and Over

We read this book over and over (and over). Definitely a favorite for my daughter and one she chose to take to her room to continue re-reading after the school year was over. Simple science topics are introduced in really kid friendly, decidedly Berenstain bears funny, ways. Just right for early elementary school!

We Love The Berenstain Bears

This book was a fun way to learn about science facts, with familiar characters my daughter loves. It was a nice break to read a book without having to answer worksheets at the end. This was an overall great boo to read.

Enjoyable

This book is quite enjoyable, however, I must say it did feel as if it was not an educational tool. It's a good book to read as a fun pastime but I would not include it in my science curriculum.

Nostalgic

Brings me back to my childhood reading. Loved the berenstain bears as a kid and am enjoying sharing that experience with my own child. It is a great book to present an overall sweep of science. While it doesn't go into too much detail on each item, it provides just enough information for little ones.
