Inside are ten sturdy science tools built specifically for preschoolers, including test tubes, a pair of tweezers, a magnifier, and a measuring tool. The magnifier actually magnifies, the test tubes hold real liquids, and the chunky pieces are easier for small hands to control.
As your child pours, pinches, scoops, and investigates, he practices observation, explores cause and effect, and strengthens fine motor control without separating “play” from “learning.”

The Primary Science Set was one of the very first products we ever purchased from Timberdoodle! As a first time homeschooling mom to our first born, this made an overwhelming experience and learning curve easy for both us as parents and for our daughter. The instructions were pretty straight forward and the visuals allowed her to feel a part of the preparation process. I would like to have seen the instruction cards express the steps and supplies a little more thoroughly. We travel a lot so when checking the cards for materials and packing, there were times where some typical household essentials were necessary, but not listed. My only other complaint overall would be that the plastic products themselves have not held up well with time even though they were cared for properly. The experiment that involved oil left a film on the plastic no matter how much we washed, and after many fun experiments, the lids and tubes show wear and tear. This is to be expected with plastic accessories of course, but would have liked to get more than one school year out of it. It is hard to find age appropriate kits that don’t involve things that intimidate parents with littles not to mention first time homeschoolers. That being said, I give this product four stars if not just for the amount of smiles it puts on my toddlers face!

My 3 year old granddaughters love "doing" Science with this set! It's very versatile, we used the magnifying glasses on nature walks, explore color theory with the water tablets, practice motor skills with the tweezers, and many more activities. I highly recommend this set!

Hours of fun!

We just recently received our Timberdoodle order so we are in the checking everything out stage. My three year old granddaughter spent the whole morning using the magnifying glass to look at bugs, leaves, patterns on chairs. In the afternoon she tried out the test tubes, stands, funnel, eye dropper and safety goggles. She had so much fun. She is a petite three year old so the safety glasses were too big for her. Other than the safety glasses, the items were perfect size for her. I enjoyed sitting on the patio watching her play/learn with this science set.

I love mostly everything about this kit. I love that my three-year-old daughter is learning science lab terminology already by using test tubes, a beaker, a flask, etc. However, I think the tweezers are a little stiff for small hands, and I wish the goggles had an adjustable elastic strap for around the head instead of temples/temple tips that easily fall off her head/nose. The caps for the small test tubes don't always screw on nicely enough to convince me they are leak-proof, so careful shaking or inverting. And the eyedropper drops liquid even when not being pinched. Tiny annoyances for me - but, obviously my daughter could care less about all of those critiques and simply LOVES doing science. She could play all day with this kit. I love the sturdy experiment cards and that they are all relatively low maintenance with minor supplies needed in advance. My daughter asks almost every day to use her science kit! Personally, I wish it would have included a microscope (I would have paid extra just for that)!

A wonderful introduction to lab science

I LOVE that this kit comes with big colorful instruction cards to show your little scientist what pieces of equipment they will need for various experiements, it's helpful to getting them to follow instructions and participate in lab prep and cleanup (a very useful skill for when they are in advanced lab courses in high school and college). The pieces are durable, colorful and child friendly. I also like that they included eye glasses. Eye safety is so important in science labs! Definitely start making eye protecion a habit from the get go in the lab. Full marks from me!

We just moved up from this lab kit to a kit with glass after YEARS of using this lab kit. It is fabulous for all kinds of kitchen lab science and outdoor lab science. The fact that it can all go in the dishwasher is a huge plus!

I ordered this science set in our 4-year-old’s PreK kit, and it’s been a huge hit! My 4 year old and 6 year old have enjoyed playing with it. They have been measuring different substances and mixing things together. They really like the goggles that come with it.
