- Follow the suggested pace: one lesson each day, four days per week. At that rhythm, most families finish comfortably within a typical school year.
- Use your workbook alongside the Instructor Text. The workbook colors are not sequential, so whether you choose Red, Purple, Yellow, or Blue, the teaching sequence stays the same while the exercises change.

Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind really covers the subject well. For my older sons, I have simply handed them the instructors guide and the workbook and they have been working through the course on their own. I do get some of the "why do I need this," but it's an important part of language arts. It is a straightforward and easy-to-follow progression through the skills.
