How to Use Mosdos Pearl
Mosdos Pearl contains six units and more than 100 literature selections, giving you flexibility in how you schedule the program- Many families complete approximately three selections per week along with the corresponding workbook pages, while others prefer to work through one unit every six weeks. Choose the pace that best fits your schedule and your student's reading level.
- After each selection, complete the matching workbook activities to reinforce vocabulary, comprehension, literary concepts, and written expression. If your student is already using a separate writing program, feel free to be selective with the additional writing assignments.
- Work through the Studying the Selection questions together after each reading. These discussions often lead to some of the richest learning in the program and help students move beyond simple comprehension to deeper analysis and interpretation.
- The Focus and Creating and Writing activities provide opportunities to extend learning through additional discussion, writing, and literary exploration. Complete as many as fit your goals and schedule.
- During the poetry unit, use the included writing activities in place of workbook assignments. These exercises help students engage more deeply with the poems while continuing to develop written expression and analytical thinking.

This is my daughter's second year with Mosdos Press Literature, this year with the Pearl level. This year, she knows what to expect and looks forward to reading the stories. The student workbook contains a good selection of different writing activities. One of my kids prefers the graphic organizers, and another prefers to do the writing assignments. Some weeks we do all of the workbook activities, and other weeks, if we do more than one story, then we might choose one or two of the writing activities. These books really build a solid foundation for helping students recognize the different parts of stories (plot, characters, theme, etc.), which also transfers over to their writing.

The instructor's manual for MosDos Literature Pearl is so helpful and gives you everything you will need to teach effectively during language arts time. It helps with introducing the topic or story and gently carries the instructor through questions to ask the students and gives lots of vocabulary and extra information that can be used to weave the selections into other parts of your homeschool day. Wonderful resource!

Wow, MosDos Literature Pearl has been wonderful to use! Not only is it enriching to our homeschool literature time, but my son is also making lots of connections to the stories we read and his real life. He often comments on similarities and things that he notices or remembers from our selections read during Homeschool literature and language arts. Rich and robust are words that perfectly describe the comprehension questions, activities, selections, and writing assignments in this literature curriculum. Some stories have a heavier subject matter and you may choose to skip those, but overall the majority of the topics are great and we enjoy them. Seems to really be a well-rounded literature resource that many families will enjoy.

This will be our third year using this curriculum and Pearl has not disappointed us. Each of my kids enjoys the exposure to many different literature types, including poetry. The teachers manual can seem overwhelming at first, however, once you find your groove it's easy peasy.

This literature program is very well-rounded and beautifully written. The artwork is amazing as well. The activities correlate well with the text readings. There are a lot of activities to choose from, but you can pick and choose which ones to do. The stories have great moral values ingrained in them as well.

This curriculum is great! It is well worth the price! It has a TON of stuff to do/stay busy with, but you can easily pick and choose what works best for your child. The workbooks have a lot of graphic organizers, and I love the easy breakdown for summarizing the stories. The teacher's guide is very helpful. It gives you more details than you realize you need. We are continuing with the Mosdos Press Literature for our homeschool family this coming year.

My son is a strong reader, but often struggles with writing or talking/writing about what he has read. We started Mosdos after hesitating for quite a while and I can say I am so happy we made the leap. My son is finally feeling confident in his abilities to answer written questions about reading. I really love that the workbook has a short story that reiterates the week's literary focus. I think he is thriving because the stories are interesting, yet short so he doesn't get overwhelmed. We have only used the program for a few weeks so far, but I can already see my son's confidence blooming. Highly recommend Mosdos!

We like this curriculum---I especially love the plethora of activities in the workbook; it's not the same meticulous handouts every time you read a selection. The literature itself is wholesome and always presents a moral lesson or theme for the student to take away from the text. Each selection also contains one or two poems (which is great for me because poetry is not my strong suit). Last year I failed to notice that the answer key to the workbook is in the back of the teacher manual, so I was reading along with my son for every story and then was able to correct the worksheets. This year I am having baby #4 so now I know that I won't HAVE to read along with EVERY story and now I can transfer some independence to him with reading!
