My Year of Art
My Year of Art turns creative expression into a yearlong habit with 365 engaging prompts that invite your child to draw, doodle, sketch, experiment, and create. Rather than teaching art through formal lessons, this journal encourages your child to explore ideas, notice details, and develop confidence through consistent, low-pressure artistic practice.
The activities are wonderfully varied. One day your child may be searching for interesting textures to recreate on paper, the next creating a whimsical doodle, experimenting with color, designing an imaginary object, or turning an ordinary observation into a piece of art. Some prompts offer step-by-step guidance, while others leave plenty of room for personal interpretation and imagination.
One of the book's greatest strengths is that it removes the pressure that often keeps children from enjoying art. There are no grades, no wrong answers, and no expectation that every page become a masterpiece. The focus is on creating regularly, trying new ideas, and learning to see the world through a more artistic lens.
Because each activity stands alone, your child can move through the book in order or jump to whichever prompt sparks interest that day. Some activities take only a few minutes, while others may inspire longer creative sessions that stretch well beyond the page.
A list of optional art supplies is included, but getting started requires very little. A pencil, a few basic art materials, and a willingness to experiment are enough to begin.
By the end of the year, your child will have created a one-of-a-kind collection of sketches, drawings, ideas, and artistic experiments. More importantly, he'll have developed the confidence that comes from creating regularly and discovering that creativity grows through practice.
