Skill Sharpeners Geography - Grade 2
By second grade, geography becomes more than maps and landforms. Children begin exploring how people, places, weather, and environments interact to shape the world around them.
Skill Sharpeners Geography Grade 2 uses short nonfiction readings, vocabulary activities, writing prompts, colorful illustrations, and hands-on projects to help students make sense of these connections. As they work through each themed unit, they'll investigate weather patterns, habitats, regions, cultures, human activities, and the ways geography influences daily life.
The workbook's cross-curricular approach reinforces reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing skills, and critical thinking while building a stronger understanding of the world. Optional cut-and-glue activities provide additional opportunities for hands-on learning and concept reinforcement.
Aligned with current geography standards, Skill Sharpeners Geography Grade 2 includes a removable answer key and access to a free downloadable teaching guide filled with pacing suggestions, discussion prompts, extension activities, and field trip ideas.
Whether studying local environments or exploring faraway places, students learn to recognize the relationships between people and the world they inhabit—an important step toward understanding geography on a larger scale.

This is a good geography, map skills, and social studies workbook combined. I would recommend scheduling each section of the book at one time (aka for one week) or the work pages can get confusing.

Good introduction to Geography
Steph H.
Great workbook to tick off the requirements for geography. Some activities can be done independently, some need a little more support. I appreciate that there isn't a ton of writing at this level and that the activities are varied (reading, fill in the blank, cut/paste etc). All around solid choice for second grade geography!

Predictable content
Tricia
Each section has a reading page, 3 writing pages, and an activity page. The activities are almost entirely cut-and-paste. The content is good for 2nd grade.

This is a great way to introduce a lot of the little things that get missed in homeschooling. The subjects are simple and straight forward.

Just Alright
Rachelle
This is our second year with this curriculum. It can be a little bit boring. It would be nice to have some video component to it.

Her Favorite
Vanessa H.
Granted, she loves geography, but this is the first book that my daughter asks for in school every day. There are interesting things to read, low but present writing demand, and lots of fun activities. She can't wait to see what she gets to do when we pull this book out.

My kids love these books every year. There is always a large variety of fun activities to do that make learning fun. The kids actually retain what they learn from these which I love
