How to Use Spelling You See Level F: Ancient Achievements
- Set aside just 10 minutes a day, five days a week. Students work through one nonfiction passage each week, building spelling, reading fluency, handwriting, and visual processing skills through short, consistent lessons.
- On Days 1–3, read the weekly passage together, identify and mark letter patterns using Spelling You See's chunking method, and have your child copy the passage for up to 10 minutes while marking the targeted chunks. These activities strengthen visual memory and help students recognize spelling patterns in meaningful context.
- On Day 4, read the passage together again, continue marking letter patterns, and discuss the information found in the Spotlight feature. These short language explorations build curiosity about words and prepare students for more advanced spelling concepts in future levels.
- On Day 5, read the passage together, review the week's letter patterns, and complete a 10-minute dictation exercise using words and patterns practiced throughout the week. Dictation helps students apply spelling patterns in a meaningful way while strengthening listening and writing skills.
- When 10 minutes are up, stop—even if the page isn't finished. The effectiveness of Spelling You See comes from short, consistent practice over time, not from completing every activity perfectly.

Wonderful resource for teaching spelling to kids. We used this for spelling in grade 5 and my son not only learned a lot of history, but he has become a great writer and is able to spell without much error. This is engaging and very much a routine each day, but that helps them retain information well. We just started the next level , G and love it , too! Tip: You can also supplement with other resources to keep further researching the topics covered in this book each week to keep the learning going throughout the week just off of one passage. We use the passages as a jumping off point/mini unit style. Hope this helps!

We used this for our first year of homeschooling, 5th grade. This was a great spelling curriculum and I noticed spelling improvement in my dyslexic son. He enjoyed this - we enjoyed talking about the different ancient history topics along the way!

Loving this so far for my 3rd and 6th graders. Both are dyslexic the 6th grader more so. This was a very positive change from the traditional memorize 4 days test on the 5th programs we have used in the past.

My daughter went from brick-and-mortar school to homeschooling this year. Spelling wasn't her favorite subject then, as it was just a list of unrelated words to spell. Spelling You See (level F) is a great program that reinforces spelling on a daily basis. She can visually see patterns in words through chunking the words in different colors. The passages for each week are interesting. All in all, we are happy with this program!

I've been using the Spelling You See curriculum for 8 years now, with multiple kids. My 5th grade son is currently going through Level F. Spelling isn't his favorite subject because of all of the writing, but he does find the prompts interesting, so that helps. I've definitely seen improvements in his spelling, especially this year. And, I like that he's learning to spell new words in context.

Even for a non self-starter this is sufficiently straight forward for a student to do the workbook pages on their own. Not too much but enough work to be effective. Great tool as my student had eye issues and this makes her focus on the letters.

Wonderful curriculum

This spelling curriculum is great! My kids have completed the previous levels of this spelling curriculum and it has been a great new take on learning how to spell. We all enjoy that it isn’t memorization heavy and instead teaches how to decode spelling words. The copy work with the coloring added in is a fun way to work on handwriting which my boys always need additional practice. I also like that the higher levels have educational text passages to read/write so they are getting a little history and social studies.
