180 Days of Social Studies for Kindergarten
What does social studies look like for a five-year-old? 180 Days of Social Studies for Kindergarten answers that with one short page a day, covering four disciplines—history, civics, geography, and economics—through a weekly rotation that builds across the school year.
Each week focuses on a single discipline and builds on it over five short activities. Activities use real photographs, simple maps, and age-appropriate primary source images—the kinds of materials older students work with, scaled for a kindergartner. Each page includes a short question or two that asks your child to look closely and respond in his own words.
This is a no-prep workbook—open it, sit down together, and begin. The pages are black-and-white worksheets, originally designed for classroom use, which occasionally shows. Some pages picture a traditional classroom, but that's a cue to get creative: let your child draw your home as his classroom, or himself helping in that classroom. There's room here for imagination and information. An answer key in the back lets you check the work without studying the topic beforehand.
Across the year, your kindergartner gets steady, low-pressure exposure to what people did in the past, how communities work, where places are, and how people buy and sell—social studies at a five-year-old's pace.
