A Reason for Handwriting: Level T (Transition)
If your second- or third-grader is ready to move from manuscript to cursive, A Reason for Handwriting: Level T provides a structured transition across the school year. The worktext reviews manuscript handwriting through the first semester, then introduces cursive in the second half, with daily Scripture-based practice throughout.
Level T includes 10 daily lessons (two weeks) reviewing manuscript letter formation, followed by 16 weekly manuscript lessons. From there, 45 daily lessons (nine weeks) introduce cursive letter formation, followed by 9 weekly cursive lessons. The Border Sheets at the back of the book are double-sided—one side manuscript, one side cursive—so your child can use them throughout the program.
The weekly sections follow a 5-day rhythm built around one Scripture verse. The first three days of each week, your child writes letters and words from the week's verse. On day 4, he traces the full verse as it appears in the worktext. On day 5, he chooses a Border Sheet from the back of the book, copies the verse onto it in his best handwriting, and colors the artwork around it.
Many daily lessons take 10–15 minutes. Scripture verses come from the Living Bible paraphrase. The Transition Book is designed to replace either Level B or Level C, giving you flexibility to time the move to cursive based on your child's readiness.
For additional teaching support, the Teacher Guidebook (available separately) covers Levels A through F with extension ideas and teaching tips.
