All About Reading Level 2
Reading starts to feel different in All About Reading Level 2. The hard work of sounding out simple words is paying off, confidence is growing, and your child is ready to tackle more complex phonics patterns while enjoying stories with greater depth and personality.
Building on the foundation established in Level 1, Level 2 introduces 22 new phonograms, including EE, OY, OW, and other common letter combinations that appear frequently in everyday reading. Through the program's carefully sequenced, multisensory lessons, your child continues strengthening his decoding skills while becoming a more fluent and accurate reader.
Level 2's collection of 27 fully decodable stories gives your child regular opportunities to apply new skills in meaningful ways. Because the stories contain only previously taught concepts, your child can focus on building fluency and comprehension rather than struggling through unfamiliar patterns. Along the way, he'll meet memorable characters, laugh at Fox's antics, and follow the adventures of Rawhide, a ranch dog whose helpful intentions don't always go as planned.
Interactive games, hands-on activities, and built-in review reinforce new concepts while keeping lessons engaging. The mastery-based approach allows your child to thoroughly learn each skill before moving forward, helping prevent gaps and frustration.
Beautifully illustrated, full-color readers encourage your child to keep turning pages, while the open-and-go format makes teaching simple for parents. As fluency improves and stories become more engaging, many children begin to see themselves not just as learners, but as readers.
If your child has completed Level 1 and is ready for more advanced phonics patterns, All About Reading Level 2 provides a steady, confidence-building path toward greater fluency and independence.

Reading lessons shouldn't feel like a daily battle. All About Reading is a mastery-based, multisensory program that helps children build strong reading skills one step at a time. Based on the trusted Orton-Gillingham approach, it combines phonics, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and reading practice into structured, effective, and surprisingly enjoyable lessons.
Rather than rushing children through a long list of concepts, All About Reading introduces one skill at a time and provides plenty of practice before moving on. This careful pacing helps children develop genuine confidence while reducing frustration for both parent and child.
Because the program is built around phonics, children learn how words work instead of relying heavily on memorization. Since the vast majority of English words can be decoded using phonics patterns, children gain the tools they need to tackle unfamiliar words independently.
The lessons are open-and-go, lightly scripted, and easy to teach. Parents don't need specialized training to be successful. Just a few minutes a day builds steady progress and strong reading habits.
One of the program's most-loved features is its collection of full-color readers. Unlike many beginning readers, these stories contain only the concepts children have already learned, allowing them to experience the satisfaction of truly reading on their own. Interactive activities, games, and hands-on review help reinforce new skills while keeping lessons engaging.
The series includes five levels, beginning with Pre-reading and continuing through Level 4. Whether you're preparing a preschooler for reading, teaching a beginning reader, or helping an older child strengthen foundational skills, All About Reading provides a clear, systematic path toward reading success.

Great for older students
Kay
The stories and activities in this program are perfect for older students who still need work on foundational reading skills. They are not overly babyish and my struggling older readers have been less resistant to this program than to others.

Only reading program we will use!
Madison N.
This reading program has worked flawlessly with both of my older daughters, and it is the same program we will use for my youngest daughter when she’s ready. We’ve done levels 1 and 2 and are about to begin level 3 for the 2024/25 school year. This program utilizes an approach that feels like mastery, but there’s plenty of opportunities for you (the teacher) to throw in review. The method used is this program is the method recommended for children with many different learning disabilities, and it also works great for neurotypical readers alike. We have one daughter with dyslexia and ADHD and one neurotypical daughter. Both are moving through this program with NO tears or complaints. As the parent/teacher, I love the open and go style. The most prep I have to do is some cutting of paper- which I often do the day of right at the table during our lesson. I don’t feel like I need to read ahead at all, and I have yet to run into a lesson where I felt like I wished I prepared beforehand- in 2 years! I cannot recommend this enough.

AAR is the best!
Kati C.
All three of my children have utilized AAR to learn to read. I could not love the program more! It is so easy to follow, is split up into manageable sections, and has many activities to reinforce concepts. The work of a true genius.

I love this curriculum
Tabitha E.
I love that this curriculum is a middle ground. I've seen reading programs that dont have a lot of repetitive work to cement the ideas and ive seen some that are like drinking from a fire hose. This program is a happy medium and has really helped my struggling reader.

Great customer service
ellen c.
I bought this and other products from Timberdoodle through a Texas program using ClassWallet. I was unsure of the process and the people at Timberdoodle were so helpful and responsive. I love All Bout Reading and All About Spelling for my dyslexic kiddo and my struggling reader. The experience with Timberdoodle made it even better.

This program worked great for my son. He loved the color pages of the books and the activities that were spread throughout the lessons. I loved that it taught reading without it becoming just sit and read. It kept my son’s attention and kept him engaged.

Easy and Fun
Sarah
We love that this program has so many components. It was a little much in the beginning to get use to but once we figured it out it was great. He loved the books, the projects, and I loved the 20 minute max a day.

perfect reading work
Bina
We love the readers to this level. The images are in color and it's so nice to have it all in one book and two volumes. I like how they teach blending the sounds to form a word.
