Fischertechnik Profi Mechanic & Static 2 with Engineer
Before Fischertechnik construction systems found their way into homeschool rooms, they were being used by engineers to model, test, and demonstrate real mechanical and industrial systems. That engineering DNA is on full display in Profi Mechanic & Static 2.
With 500 precision-engineered parts, your child can build 30 working models that explore both mechanics and structural engineering. From windshield wipers and elevating platforms to cranes, bridges, and transmission systems, each project demonstrates how forces, motion, and structural design work together in the real world.
As your child builds, he'll encounter concepts such as pulleys, levers, gears, torque, planetary gear systems, and load-bearing structures. Rather than simply reading about these principles, he sees them in action as each model comes to life.
The included wordless instruction manual makes the kit accessible to a wide range of builders, allowing children to focus on construction and experimentation rather than lengthy written directions. For families who want to dig deeper, a downloadable companion guide explores the engineering concepts behind the models. Our Timberdoodle-exclusive version also includes a rare Fischertechnik engineer figure.
One of the reasons Fischertechnik has earned such a strong reputation is its commitment to precision. Since introducing educational construction kits in Germany in 1965, the company has continued producing components to exacting standards. Today, Fischertechnik systems are used in homes, classrooms, engineering programs, and industrial training environments around the world.
The building blocks create sturdy, durable models that can withstand repeated use while remaining flexible enough for experimentation and modification. When a bridge needs reinforcement or a mechanism doesn't behave as expected, your child can investigate, adjust, and try again—just as an engineer would.
Whether your child dreams of designing machines, enjoys figuring out how things work, or simply loves building, Profi Mechanic & Static 2 provides a hands-on introduction to the mechanical and structural principles that shape the world around him.

- You are right to think that there is more to Mechanic & Static than simply the building instructions (although completing that alone will give your 7th-grader an intuitive grasp of mechanical concepts)! This additional instruction is in the didactic learning manual. Unlike the building instructions, the didactic learning portion has a different manual available for each language, so you’ll want to look for the one labeled as English.

Great for a 7th grader
STACEY B.
My 7th grader thinks that it is fun and educational. The instructions can be confusing. He has taken it apart and is ready to build something new. Keep the box so you can store it until you are ready to build something new.

Sometimes the pieces are hard to place
Natalie
We really enjoyed this set but sometimes the pieces were really hard to place and our daughters poor fingers were red and sore after building. Other than that she really enjoyed when she was able to create the project. My favorite was the balance.

So many options for designs and creativity. Our 7th grader and 5th grader love to build, break down and create. This a really good team building kit. For my boys whose interest include design, engineering and architecture this was perfect!
