How to Use Fischertechnik Profi Mechanic & Static 2
- Plan on building approximately one model each week. With 30 models included, this pace provides plenty of time to explore the kit over the course of a school year, leaving extra weeks for more challenging builds, experimentation, or revisits to favorite models.
- Encourage your child to take his time with each project. Some models come together quickly, while others require more careful attention as gears, levers, pulleys, and structural elements become more complex.
- As each model is completed, spend a few minutes exploring how it works. Turn the gears, test the mechanisms, examine the load-bearing structures, and discuss why the design functions the way it does. Much of the learning happens after the build is finished.
- When questions arise, use the downloadable companion guide to learn more about the engineering concepts behind the models. The explanations provide helpful context without requiring your child to master every concept before building.
- Once your child becomes comfortable with the Fischertechnik system, encourage them to create original designs. The same pieces used to build cranes, bridges, and transmission systems can be combined in entirely new ways, giving young engineers opportunities to apply what they've learned.
- Most importantly, celebrate problem-solving rather than perfection. If a structure collapses or a mechanism doesn't perform as expected, treat it as part of the engineering process. Testing ideas, identifying mistakes, and making improvements are among the most valuable skills this kit teaches.

- You are right to think that there is more to Mechanic & Static than simply the building instructions (although completing that alone will give your 7th-grader an intuitive grasp of mechanical concepts)! This additional instruction is in the didactic learning manual. Unlike the building instructions, the didactic learning portion has a different manual available for each language, so you’ll want to look for the one labeled as English.

Sometimes the pieces are hard to place

We really enjoyed this set but sometimes the pieces were really hard to place and our daughters poor fingers were red and sore after building. Other than that she really enjoyed when she was able to create the project. My favorite was the balance.
