2026 Pre-K Curriculum Kit
Why You Need the Timberdoodle Handbook
The curriculum gives you the materials. The Handbook shows you how to put them together into a school year.Designed specifically for each Timberdoodle Curriculum Kit, this softcover, easy-to-handle Handbook (8" × 8") helps you understand what each resource is for, how to schedule it, and how to make the most of everything in your kit. Instead of sorting through dozens of teacher manuals to figure out where to begin, you'll have one practical guide that keeps the big picture in view.
Inside, you'll find brief introductions to every curriculum component, helpful implementation tips, a flexible Reading Challenge tailored to your child's grade, and access to the Timberdoodle Online Scheduler. Together, they help you spend less time planning and more time teaching.
The Online Scheduler lets you customize your homeschool around your family's life. Adjust your start date, add vacation weeks, include outside classes, and print a schedule that fits your calendar instead of forcing your family into someone else's. A sample weekly schedule in the Handbook helps you get started right away.
The Reading Challenge provides structure without locking you into a required book list. Choose the reading level that best fits your child, then select books that match his interests while building a consistent reading habit throughout the year.
Every Handbook is included free with Timberdoodle Pre-Built Curriculum Kits and Custom Curriculum Kits. If you're purchasing one separately, it includes the same Online Scheduler access but is designed specifically for that grade's Timberdoodle curriculum rather than as a general guide to homeschooling.
Because of the proprietary nature of the Handbook and Online Scheduler, Handbooks purchased separately are non-returnable.
The Handbook keeps your homeschool organized from the first week to the last, giving you practical guidance, flexible planning tools, and the confidence to make the most of your Timberdoodle curriculum.
How to Use Your Nonreligious 2026 Pre-K Handbook
- Start with the big picture. Before your school year begins, flip through your Handbook to see what’s included in your Curriculum Kit. Read the short component descriptions and any tips we’ve included so you know what your child will be using and where you may want to make adjustments.
- Set up your Online Scheduler. Use the access included with your Handbook to choose your start date, add vacation weeks, and customize your courses. You can also look at the sample weekly schedule printed in the Handbook for an idea of how everything fits together.
- Choose weekly or daily checklists. Both are available through the Online Scheduler, but we generally recommend weekly checklists. They show what needs to be accomplished that week while leaving you free to decide whether Tuesday needs more math, Friday needs less of everything, or life has other plans.
- Pick a Reading Challenge level. Choose Light Reader, Interested Reader, or Enthralled Reader based on your child and your goals for the year. Use our suggested themes and ideas as a starting point, then choose books that fit your family and your child’s interests.
- Keep the Handbook handy. Refer back to it when you need a quick reminder about a curriculum component, want to adjust your schedule, or need one of the grade-specific tips or extras. For detailed teaching instructions, use the teacher manuals and resources that come with each program.
- Make it yours. The Handbook and Online Scheduler are designed to give your homeschool structure without locking you into someone else’s idea of a perfect week. Adjust the schedule when you need to, keep what works, and let the Handbook do its job: help you keep the year organized without making homeschooling more complicated than it needs to be.

I really like this as a first time homeschooling mom, but it does leave a bit to be desired. Be prepared to have to learn your materials in depth and adjust the schedule. Some items are listed as "1 sticker a day" when the exercise is 10 stickers and shouldn't be broken up. I think some of the materials should be viewed differently by the system to make scheduling more seamless. The current method makes the schedule look crazy and overwhelming but it still takes a lot off the plate and is better with some trial and error.
