Real Science-4-Kids Book 5
Real Science-4-Kids Book 5 takes students one step deeper by asking a question many science programs never address: How do we know what we know?
Up to this point, students have learned what science is, how scientists investigate questions, how scientific ideas apply to everyday life, and how different concepts connect. Book 5 zooms out and examines the process of scientific knowledge itself.
Students explore questions such as how scientists determine whether an explanation is supported by evidence, how models help us understand things we cannot directly observe, how data is interpreted, and why scientific understanding sometimes changes when new evidence is discovered.
One of the strengths of Book 5 is that it encourages students to think beyond individual facts. Instead of simply accepting information, they begin considering where knowledge comes from, how conclusions are reached, and what makes an explanation scientifically reliable. These are valuable thinking skills that extend far beyond science class.
As students revisit chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and astronomy, they gain a broader understanding of how scientific disciplines work together to build our understanding of the natural world. The result is a more mature view of science—one that emphasizes evidence, reasoning, and continual discovery.
The lessons remain approachable and homeschool-friendly, with no required experiments. Families who enjoy hands-on learning can supplement the course with optional activities available through the Digital Teaching Dashboard. The Dashboard also includes lesson plans, notebook pages, quizzes, answer keys, grading tools, and a digital flipbook with audio narration.
Book 5 is often the point at which students begin to see science as more than a collection of information. They start recognizing it as a method for evaluating ideas, testing explanations, and making sense of a complex world.

Yes. It is by the same author, but has been substantially updated.
What we love about the update is that it removes the pressure of experiments and lab notebooks while retaining rigorous scientific instruction. Plus, the redesigned books are a visual step up, too.
