Science in the Age of Reason explores the discoveries, ideas, and scientific advancements of the 1700s and early 1800s. Through more than 90 lessons, your child will study the people, experiments, and innovations that shaped science during a period marked by both remarkable discoveries and significant philosophical change.
Written from a Christian worldview, the course examines how different beliefs influenced the way scientists understood the natural world. As your child studies the scientific achievements of the Age of Reason, he'll also explore how worldview can shape the questions people ask, the conclusions they draw, and the way they interpret evidence.
Along the way, your child will investigate topics such as chemistry, astronomy, anatomy, weather, light, vision, classification, and conservation laws. Every lesson includes a hands-on activity designed to reinforce the concepts being studied. He might transform a bar of soap in the microwave, make paper from cotton fibers, observe sparks from a wintergreen mint, classify fingerprints, test for color blindness, or explore other phenomena that connect scientific ideas to real-world observation.
