Tests for The Story of the World Volume 3
How much Early Modern history actually stuck? These chapter-by-chapter tests help you find out.
Designed to accompany The Story of the World Volume 3: Early Modern Times, this resource includes 42 chapter tests covering the major people, places, events, and ideas students encounter from exploration and expanding empires through revolutions and global change.
Each test uses multiple question styles to assess comprehension, retention, and historical understanding rather than simple memorization.
Designed primarily as an extension resource for older students, this book includes:
- Forty-two tests, one for each chapter
- Multiple-choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, true/false, and short-answer questions
- A comprehensive answer key for quick grading and review
- Assessments designed to reinforce chronology, historical events, vocabulary, and comprehension
Whether used for periodic check-ins, assigning grades, documenting progress, or simply confirming that Early Modern history is sticking, these tests provide an easy way to measure understanding without creating additional prep work.

Families can successfully begin with whatever time period most interests them. Some families prefer starting with ancient times and unraveling the story sequentially until modern times. Yet because the full scope of history is taught repeatedly up through high school, it is okay to skip volumes, knowing that the same events will be covered later.

Standard test

This test typically has a fill in the blank section, multiple choice section, true or false section and a final question that only requires a few sentences. The test usually has a total of 17 or 18 questions. We love using this test to review the chapter we read and to make sure the information was retained.

This is a great program and a wonderful way to help the information get fully absorbed. With each level the types and complexity of the questions change. Which I find helps to challenge my kids. I also like how the sections of the tests are grouped together. This make it easier for me decide the right section or sections I need for each one of my kids. I have recommended this whole series to every person I come across who is thinking of home schooling or is just starting to home school.

a great method of evaluation.

We are using these tests this year, and find they are a nice way to see how much the children are retaining. To switch it up a bit, i'll alternate between giving the children a test from this book or having them do narrations and comprehension questions from the activity book. It keeps things fresh and is a great way to make sure that the knowledge is "sticking"
