CompuScholar Python Programming
The new 2026 edition of Python Programming introduces substantial improvements throughout the course. An updated edition is arriving this fall! You're welcome to purchase now and activate later to step into the new course with all the upgrades, including browser-based coding and automatic project grading that simplifies assessment for both students and parents. The 2026 edition expands Python Programming into a full two-semester course with a scope and sequence comparable to CompuScholar's C# Programming and Java Programming courses. The first semester remains accessible to middle school students, while the second semester introduces more advanced concepts appropriate for high school learners. Additional improvements include vocabulary tooltips, extra coding practice through homework exercises, formal alignment with many state computer science standards, and expanded preparation materials for the PCEP certification exam. The lessons, projects, exercises, and assessments have also been completely rewritten, allowing students to take both Computer Science Foundations and Python Programming without encountering repeated material.
Python Programming introduces students to one of the world's most widely used programming languages through a structured, hands-on learning experience. Students learn essential programming concepts, including variables, input and output, conditionals, loops, functions, debugging, and introductory object-oriented programming while writing real Python code. As the course progresses, many students discover that programming is less about memorizing commands and more about learning how to break complex problems into manageable steps.
The fully online course combines instructional videos, readings, coding exercises, quizzes, projects, and assessments. Students work in a browser-based coding environment that eliminates software installation and setup concerns, allowing them to focus on learning rather than troubleshooting technology.
Parents do not need a programming background to successfully oversee the course. Auto-graded quizzes, assessments, and coding projects reduce grading time, while teacher resources and solution guides make it easy to monitor progress and support learning when needed.
Whether your student is interested in computer science, engineering, data analysis, software development, or simply wants to understand how modern technology works, Python Programming provides a strong foundation in computational thinking and coding. By the end of the course, your student will have moved beyond simply using technology and begun creating with it.

CompuScholar courses assume the student is already familiar with using a keyboard and mouse to select and run programs, navigate application menu systems, and generally interact with their operating system.
Programming students should understand how to store and retrieve files on the hard disk and how to use built-in operating system applications (Windows/File Explorer, Mac OS Finder) to navigate a file system and directory structures. It is helpful to also have some familiarity with text editors and using web browsers to find helpful information on the Internet.
We teach students how to program a computer from the ground up, but they should already know the basics about using one!
