How to Use Sketching Made Easy
- Plan on completing about one video lesson each week. With 30 lessons total, most students can finish the course comfortably within a school year.
- Print the worksheet pages before starting each lesson. Some families prefer printing them as needed, while others print the entire workbook at the beginning of the year.
- Watch the lesson and sketch alongside the instructor. Students can pause, rewind, and replay sections whenever they need extra time or want to review a technique.
- Complete the accompanying worksheet after each lesson to reinforce the skills taught in the video. The guided practice helps turn new techniques into lasting habits.
- Work at a comfortable pace. Some students will move quickly through a lesson, while others may spend extra time practicing a favorite technique before moving on.
- Save completed sketches in a portfolio or display favorite pieces. Looking back at earlier work is one of the easiest ways for students to see how much their skills have grown over time.

Sketching Made Easy does not teach the specifics of how to draw an abundance of things. Rather, it focuses on concepts that apply to many different types of drawings.
The material in this course will apply to both drawing and painting because to be a good painter, you must be good at drawing first! They both go hand in hand, even if you prefer doing your artwork digitally.
The most important topics covered are the 5 Visual Elements of Art: Line/Shape, Form, Texture, Color, and Pattern.
This course is designed to teach beginners who are looking to become professionals, advanced students who want to brush up on their basics, and hobbyists alike. No previous drawing knowledge is required.

When I logged into the account, I was able to download the workbook but not the videos. I contacted them personally to ask how to download the videos and they said for copyright reasons they would not allow that. Since my high-functioning autistic son is not allowed on the internet for multiple reasons, this program will not work for us. Keep in mind that the Art History digital series offered through Timberdoodle was downloadable and Math-U-See has DVDs of their videos which can still be found online. No matter what program we have chosen, we could always do it off line until now. I regret this purchase for that reason.
