Summer Nights Shadow Box is a complete painting and assembly kit that turns 10 precision-cut wooden pieces into a layered 3D camping scene. Each piece measures about 5 inches wide, and the entire project can be completed in one sitting—good news for teens who prefer seeing results before their enthusiasm wanders off.
Your teen paints towering pines, a glowing campfire, a tucked-away tent, a bold mountain silhouette, and a star-filled sky brushed with northern lights. Once the pieces are dry, he lines them up in order and stacks them to create depth and contrast without complicated painting techniques.
The clear, step-by-step process leaves room for color choices while guiding your teen through careful placement and clean assembly. Paint, glue, and a display stand are included, so there are no extra supplies to gather and no prep for you.
Plan on 60–90 minutes from start to finish. Once assembled, the shadow box sits upright on the included stand, keeping a little campfire glow on display long after the paint dries.
How to Use Summer Nights Shadow Box
- Lay out all 10 wooden pieces in order so the scene builds the way it should. The kit also includes paint, glue, and a display stand, so there’s nothing extra to hunt down.
- Start by choosing the mood. A soft evening glow or deeper mountain shadows both work, and there’s enough paint to take the scene in either direction. Let your teen decide, then paint each layer one at a time.
- Most teens finish the project in 60–90 minutes, but there’s no need to race the drying paint. It can easily stretch across multiple sittings if that works better for your day.
- Once the pieces are dry, stack them without glue to preview the finished scene. Now is the time to add a few stars, deepen the shadows, or brighten the campfire.
- When your teen is happy with the arrangement, have him glue the layers together one at a time, keeping the edges aligned as he works.
- Paint the outer frame if desired, place the finished shadow box on its stand, and enjoy a little campfire calm—no bug spray required.
