CursiveLogic: A Smarter Way to Learn Cursive
Learning cursive doesn't have to mean mastering 26 letters individually. With CursiveLogic, your child can learn cursive in as little as 10 weeks by focusing on the patterns that connect letters rather than treating each one as a separate skill.
Instead of introducing letters in alphabetical order, CursiveLogic teaches four core shape families. Letters that share the same stroke patterns are practiced together, making it easier for students to recognize similarities, build muscle memory, and develop a smooth writing rhythm. How to Use CursiveLogic

- Plan on 3–4 lessons each week. Most lessons take about 10–15 minutes and include several pages of guided practice. The short, consistent sessions help build muscle memory without overwhelming your student.
- Work through one shape family at a time. CursiveLogic groups letters by shared stroke patterns rather than alphabetical order, helping students recognize similarities and learn letter formation more efficiently.
- Encourage your child to use the suggested color-coding while learning new letter groups. The visual cues reinforce the stroke patterns and make it easier to remember how letters are formed.
- After completing the core lessons, use the 14 included practice pages to maintain fluency. Completing about one page per week provides ongoing review without adding much to your schedule.

I was reluctant to use this cursive curriculum given the complete failure of the print handwriting course, however, we decided to risk it and I am glad we did. It was an excellent program. CursiveLogic was straightforward, easy to implement, and there were no fights over doing it. I like that the letters were slanted and it's the style of cursive I learned as a child. So simple to use (that I wish I had it when I was young!)

We began using CursiveLogic in 3rd grade, and I really appreciated its clear and logical approach. A few major highlights that make this curriculum stand out from others: It starts with basic swoops and curves, making it very intuitive. It’s easy to teach and excellent for independent learning. After the initial instruction book, the follow-up copywork is content-rich—for example, the 5th-grade level focuses on Speeches and Writing in American History. Also, the amount of time you put into it each day is only a few minutes. And, kiddos start to see results quickly, which is very rewarding for them. After a few lessons, I write a word or two in cursive for encouragement. My boys feel so proud that they can read it. (It's kind of like decoding!). We are in our 3rd year of cursive, and even though we aren't homeschooling this year (after 7 years of homeschooling), I'm still having my boys do this curriculum at home.
