Each lesson includes a portrait etching, state outline, statehood date, and two quotations to trace and copy in cursive. Built-in self-evaluation encourages students to take ownership of their work while strengthening attention to detail.

How to Use CursiveLogic: Presidents & Citizens

My kids all dislike handwriting. When I introduced cursive, two of them actually began enjoying the process of writing. The way this book is laid out- and the useful knowledge they use as copywork- helps make writing more interesting and less of a struggle. All of their handwriting has improved after learning cursive!

I like how this is set up where they break down the letters by formation in the beginning. For example, all the letters that you go over and then curve back to start such as “a, c, d, g…..” etc are grouped together. And all the letters you go up and loop left downstroke like “f, h, k, l….” etc are grouped together. It makes it easier for my student to remember. Also, the lessons are short which keeps my student happy. And there’s a bit of history in there which can prompt conversations.

We used the first Cursive Logic book last year and I really liked it. I was very excited that this version was included in our 4th grade kit. It reviewed what we learned last year and then helped us to be able to write sentences as well as learn about the states and various historical figures. We focused on a page per day and it was perfect. I really hope they make more of these in the future so we can continue practicing handwriting.

The next book after completing cursive logic. It looks good. I like that it covers the presidents. Good information to know and relevant to US history if you can time it to line up with your history subjects.
