Math-U-See Epsilon
Fractions are among the most important concepts in elementary mathematics, and Math-U-See Epsilon helps students develop a clear understanding of how they work. Through visual models, hands-on learning, and a mastery-based approach, students learn to work confidently with parts of a whole rather than relying on memorized procedures. In Epsilon, your child will learn to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and mixed numbers. Using Math-U-See's fraction overlays and visual demonstrations, students see how fractions relate to one another, making concepts such as equivalent fractions, common denominators, and fraction operations easier to understand.
Additional topics include decimal and fraction conversions, problem-solving, area, circumference, quadrilaterals, graphing, and real-world applications. Throughout the course, students apply fraction concepts in meaningful contexts while strengthening their overall mathematical reasoning.
Like all Math-U-See levels, Epsilon introduces concepts one at a time and emphasizes mastery before moving forward. Video instruction, visual models, and incremental practice help students build confidence while developing a lasting understanding of fractions.
Instructional videos and teacher resources are accessed through Math-U-See's Essential Plan. Each subscription includes 2 course credits, supports up to 5 student seats, and provides access to activated levels for one year.
Designed for students who have mastered division, Math-U-See Epsilon provides a strong foundation in fractions and prepares learners for decimals, percentages, ratios, and more advanced mathematical concepts in future levels.

Math-U-See has transitioned from lifetime access to a one-year subscription for its digital resources, including instructional videos and the online teacher manual.
This new subscription provides digital access for two levels and up to five students. Depending on your family’s needs, this may offer more flexibility than the previous level-by-level lifetime access model.
One of the strengths of this plan is its flexibility. Your students are not locked into a single level. If a student finishes a level early or needs to go back and review an earlier one, you can swap a course credit to a different level right from your dashboard, up to once every 30 days. Because the plan includes two credits, a family with two students in different levels can often cover both with one subscription. When a student is ready to move up, you simply purchase the physical materials for the next level and swap the credit. As long as your subscription is active, there is no new subscription to buy to keep going.

Math-U-See Epsilon explains fractions in a hands-on, easy to understand way! As my mother, who was visiting one day, said, "Why didn't they teach fractions like this to me when I was in school?" The manipulatives are very useful in understanding how fractions work, even with adding and subtracting. The only thing I will say about Math-U-See that we have struggled with to a certain degree, is that if children move from the school setting to the homeschool setting, it can be difficult to start a new math journey at certain levels. Most math programs do a spiral approach rather than the full mastery approach that Math-U-See uses. This isn't a criticism, as I definitely see the value in this for most of my children as they continue to work through the program, but I did have to adjust the level s/he was working at for that reason.

We love Math U See. I have one child that has completed Epsilon and I plan to have the rest of my children do it as well. I love the simplicity of watching the instruction video and being able to do as many worksheets as necessary for my children to master the concept.

Another great math year

My daughter has used the MYS program from the start and has always loved it. She looks forward to the videos and will even rewatch them. It's also helpful when I'm not quite as familiar with the concept as maybe I was years ago. They really explain things well.

Great program

I really appreciate this approach to fractions using manipulative and applicable examples. My son is grasping and mastering the concepts. He is able to watch the video, do the corresponding review sheet independently and then we go over his work together.

So Helpful!

My son and I started his homeschooling journey with Right Start Math. Right Start did a great job of incorporating games and number sense, but we hit a point where we were beginning to do math as a procedure instead of understanding why and what we were really doing. That’s when I bought math u see to supplement our curriculum. I’d known about math u see from the beginning of our homeschool journey, but was worried that if homeschooling didn’t work out and I had to put my children in school, I didn’t want them to be ‘behind’ since math u see doesn’t follow the traditional school model. Experience has now shown me that math u see teaches each concept so thoroughly that he won’t be behind and will in fact have a huge advantage over the traditional model because my son will know when to use a procedure and why not just how. So with my other children we use math u see exclusively.

Nervous but hopeful

The thought of teaching fractions when I myself was never that great at them had me very intimidated, but after receiving the set with the fraction manipulative I have a bit more confidence going forward
