FAQs
Have Questions About this Product?

Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this product below:

We asked the families who used our 11th grade kit how long their students spent on "school." Most of the families worked on academics 4 or 5 days a week and spent 3-5 hours a day specifically on Timberdoodle materials. It is common for families to spend more or less time than that, so don't stress if your schedule doesn't exactly match up. And, of course, the time you spend will be greatly impacted by how in-depth your student takes their studies, their learning approach, how distractible they allow themselves to be, and much more.

Feeling a little queasy about giving grades? Don't worry—you've totally got this. Grading high school at home might sound scary, but it's really just another skill you'll master, like teaching long division or surviving a field trip to the science museum. Check out this article for tips and suggestions.

Not sure if it’s time to move up? Totally normal!

A great place to start is with our Placement Tests. We have complete tests for younger kiddos to show exactly where they are. For older students, you’ll want to focus on the math and language arts sections to get a good feel for their readiness.

Kids are usually ready to jump into the next kit—with maybe a few exceptions. If your child is heading into 3rd grade but places into 2nd-grade math, no problem! You might want to grab the 3rd-grade kit and simply swap out the math.

If a subject didn’t stick last year, now’s your chance to figure out why.

  • Maybe your child just missed a few concepts (hello, summer review!).
  • Maybe the curriculum didn’t click.
  • Maybe math just isn’t his jam (yet).
  • Or maybe he needs a little extra support—and that’s okay!

One of the best things about homeschooling? You’re not locked into a one-size-fits-all timeline. You can customize learning to fit your child and help them succeed at their own pace.

Ready to start exploring? We’re here to help every step of the way!

Nope—and that's totally normal!

Here's the deal: Accreditation is for schools, not curriculum. Your local school district might be accredited, but their textbooks aren't. Accreditation looks at things like teacher degrees and classroom hours, not the books or materials being used. And since Timberdoodle kits aren't a school—they're a collection of awesome learning tools—there's nothing to accredit.

If you see a homeschool program claiming to be "accredited," just remember: it's the school that's accredited, not the curriculum.

And don't worry—no state requires homeschool curriculum to be accredited. (Phew!)

What you really want to know is: "Will Timberdoodle meet my state's homeschool requirements?" In most cases, the answer is yes—we meet or beat what's needed! However, every state's rules are a little different, so we recommend checking yours. (We even have a quick cheat sheet to help!)

Still scratching your head? Reach out—we'd love to help you figure it out!

We've been honored with more than 40 awards from top homeschooling resources over the years. We're talking about the Practical Homeschooling Reader Awards, The Old Schoolhouse Excellence in Education Awards, and Cathy Duffy's Top Picks. Our Elementary Curriculum, High School Curriculum, Kindergarten, Middle School Curriculum, and Preschool/Readiness kits have all earned top awards. We've also been recognized for our Boxed Curriculum and even for being Most Unique. These awards are a testament to how much our customers love our kits! Winning them means receiving very high satisfaction ratings from YOU, our amazing homeschooling families. It truly shows that the time and effort we put into creating comprehensive and engaging curriculum pays off!

What Our Customers Have To Say

    Thea C.

Great all around core learning/teaching books for high school. We love the fact that many items are printed books with the assistance of online educational materials. As a parent teaching the need in one’s life to utilize all types of resources and to also know how to disengage from the dependency of digital use; actual printed materials help to make this a reality therefore providing the necessary skills for a healthier future!

    It works for us

    Melanie D.

I really like the fact that I can adjust the kit to meet our needs and budget. We are using Timberdoodle for everything except English for 11th grade. We are doing Notgrass World History, Friendly Chemistry, Chemistry101, MathUSee Algebra 2, and the Big Questions book, which my 6th grader is also reading. The Notgrass History provides a Bible credit and a literature credit as well as history. So you get a lot in one curriculum. My son really likes it. We just switched to MathUSee this year, and I wish we had used it for Algebra 1. It just helps to have the videos plus the written explanation plus the review of each concept at different points throughout the book.

    Overall really good.

    malynda w.

Overall the kit with customization was wonderful. I stuggled a bit navigating the customizer, but after playing around with if for a while i was able to figure it out easy enough. The kit itself has alot of wonderful courses my 17yo is really enjoys. The only class we aren't really thrilled with is Medical Investigations (the lessons are very repetitive and require alot of research outside of the provided material).

    Excited to use this!

    Michele

I just finished organizing this and what I see looks great! We haven't used it yet but will start next week. I so appreciate being able to make substitutions since my son is taking foreign language in a classroom setting. He also liked what he saw in the curriculum. I love that it is so mulitsensory even at this age. I'm excited to watch the dvd's with him. I'll have to review again after we've used it but so far, I like what I see and customer service has been great!
