Due to unexpected supply issues, two STEM kits—Geomag Preschool STEM and ThinkPlay Preschool—are no longer available. In their place, we’ve included the Blockaroo Castle Set in the Complete Kit and the Blockaroo Train Set in the Elite Kit. Blockaroo’s big, soft magnetic foam blocks click together and rotate 360 degrees, so your preschooler can build a castle or train, then take it apart and create something entirely new. Along the way, he’ll practice spatial reasoning, fine-motor skills, problem-solving, and persistence.
Please note: My Big Wimmelbook - On the Farm is out of print. The publisher's reprint is due late October best case, so we have dropped it out of your kit and reduced the price accordingly.
What's in the Preschool Kit
This is the year letters begin to connect to sounds, numbers start to make sense, and patterns become something your child can recognize and use.The kit introduces early phonics, counting, thinking skills, science exploration, and art through games, puzzles, and hands-on projects rather than worksheets. Inside you’ll find a craft box, a set of Wimmelbooks for picture-based storytelling, and a mix of building and sensory activities to round out the day.

We asked parents who used our Preschool Kit how long they spent using these tools with their child. Nearly all estimated that they spent less than 2 hours a day on "school time," or 2-10 hours a week.
Yes! Our Preschool kits go beyond simple ABCs. They focus on "Thinking Skills," phonemic awareness (the sounds behind the letters), and "Number Sense." These foundational skills ensure your child doesn't just memorize facts but develops the logic needed for future academic success.
We pick every item in this kit against one standard: is it the best thing we can find for a child this age? At this grade level, the materials that won that test don't carry religious content either way — so the Classic and Nonreligious kits contain the same items. The single difference is the handbook, where the Classic edition's suggested reading list includes Christian titles.
We flag that difference carefully. We serve charter school families who aren't permitted to buy materials containing religious content, so we label anything that carries any — even a reading list tucked inside a handbook. We'd rather over-label than let a family order something their program isn't allowed to buy.
You'll also notice there's no Bible course in the kit. That's deliberate. We believe Bible study is too important to become one more subject to check off — what your family studies should flex with your children's ages, what they're wrestling with, and what your church is walking through this year. Our kit targets the three pillars of readiness: Hearing the sounds in words, understanding quantity, not just counting, and the ability to follow a routine and solve simple problems. By age 5, your child won't just know their ABCs; they'll have the logic skills needed for advanced learning.
Absolutely. Many families use one kit for siblings close in age. The open-ended nature of the STEM toys and games makes it easy to adjust the challenge level, one child might work on color sorting while the older one works on complex patterns using the same materials.

A great place to start is with our Placement Tests. We have complete tests for younger kiddos to show exactly where they are. For older students, you’ll want to focus on the math and language arts sections to get a good feel for their readiness.
Kids are usually ready to jump into the next kit—with maybe a few exceptions. If your child is heading into 3rd grade but places into 2nd-grade math, no problem! You might want to grab the 3rd-grade kit and simply swap out the math.

Here's the deal: Accreditation is for schools, not curriculum. Your local school district might be accredited, but their textbooks aren't. Accreditation looks at things like teacher degrees and classroom hours, not the books or materials being used. And since Timberdoodle kits aren't a school—they're a collection of awesome learning tools—there's nothing to accredit.
If you see a homeschool program claiming to be "accredited," just remember: it's the school that's accredited, not the curriculum.
And don't worry—no state requires homeschool curriculum to be accredited. (Phew!)
What you really want to know is: "Will Timberdoodle meet my state's homeschool requirements?" In most cases, the answer is yes—we meet or beat what's needed! However, every state's rules are a little different, so we recommend checking yours. (We even have a quick cheat sheet to help!)

My 3yo grandson and I are really enjoying the Timberdoodle Preschool Curriculum kit together. As a young 3, I don't want to push "school" on him, but both of us were feeling a bit bored before it arrived, and now we're interested and engaged all day long. This kit includes so many materials I had no idea even existed, and I'm getting a much better idea of my grandson's current developmental level, areas of interest, and strengths and weaknesses. We just finished our second preschool week. The majority of the materials are at an appropriate level for him. Some are challenging, and one is not interesting to us though probably great for most preschoolers (My First ABC Sounds). It's a nice mix of activities, and should keep him interested and learning all year long. We have moved the Plus-plus blocks off to next semester because he doesn't yet have the hand strength to be able to put the pieces together, and there are similar model building toys in the kit that he enjoys more. Kwik Stix, and colored rocks are daily favorites. I've removed them from the Scheduler and make them available to use every day. I like the fact that the colored rocks are shaped to help him develop the correct hand position for writing. He cannot open or close the Kwik Stix himself, (probably a good thing) but loves to use them in his workbooks because of the vibrant colors. We both adore Mad Mattr "clay" and play with it most days. The sticker books and other workbooks are also a big hit. Generally, he wants to do several pages in each of these workbook courses every day. I appreciate that the handbook explains each item in the kit and provides ideas for incorporating it into his preschool. I'm also a big fan of the Scheduler. It has felt a bit overwhelming to learn this software, but gradually I'm getting the hang of what it can do, and I really appreciate the task reminders. With so much in the kit, it would be very easy to overlook some items. It's pretty powerful and flexible. I can add, remove, and modify courses and schedules to suit suit us. Another useful resource accessible from the Scheduler is the separate Reading Challenge site with weekly themes and extensive book lists. We pick a theme for each week. Then, the Thursday before the start of the week, I search the local library website, and request books we can pick up and read together the following week. Timberdoodle's strength is in the reasoning, logic, problem solving, and tech/engineering areas. The games they include are outstanding. I do wish they would include something for music as well. Other materials we are supplementing the Preschool kit with include a play clock for telling time, a coin sorter with coins for learning about money, and mathlink cubes for counting. We're mostly just playing with these now, keeping it quick and simple, but I want something hands on every day for math, and Farmland Math only has one day a week scheduled. I always expected to individualize this program for my grandson. I am happy with the high quality and variety of learning/play materials. Customer service has been very responsive to my questions, and I am very pleased with the Timberdoodle Preschool Curriculum kit.

The preschool curriculum kit was perfect for our family. Our 2 year old wants nothing more than to do school like her older sister. She wants to be doing real school, not just be given coloring sheets or other art work. This kit provided everything we needed to keep her engaged and learning on her level while letting her play. She is thrilled, and we have only done a few of the non-consumable items so far. The scheduler is amazing; we have customized it to fit our family’s needs. It will be a huge time saver. We feel very prepared for the school year in the fall.

We LOVE Timberdoodle! I had used it for a little boy I nannied during the pandemic. When he went off to Kindergarten at his very prestigious private school his teachers were raving on how far ahead he was. August of 2025 our almost 3 year old was really wanting to do school. We purchased this Pre-School curriculum and she LOVED it. My daughter actually gets mad at me because we only do school 3 days a week. She was not happy to hear that you don't do school during the summer. This curriculum is so thought out and wonderful that we actually feel like she's ready to skip Pre-K and we are going to purchase the Kindergarten set. My husband is an Aerospace Engineer and he loves this curriculum for our daughter.

We used our ESA monies to purchase this curriculum. I was looking for something to supplement in with our current curriculum, and this was by far the best purchase I have made!!!! My son has Down Syndrome, Level 3 Autism, and is non-verbal. Other curriculums are very book heavy, and I needed a curriculum that was more hands on. This curriculum offered that and so much more!!!! I love the online scheduler that completely organizes your lesson plans for you. Timberdoodle Rocks!

So happy that I came across Timberdoodle! The games and products are things I usually would never have found out about but my daughter is so happy and we have fun learning together, truly cannot explain how quality these items are. My only quip is the workbooks are a bit much but this is not because the quality isn't great and fun but just because I don't love workbooks for this age. The customer service was A grade as well.

Love, love all the hands on learning games for thinking skills, Day and Night along with Hide and Goat seek. My granddaughter is eager to do the activities each day that I pull out one of the games. The Wimmelbooks have so much going on in each picture that I thought my granddaughter would be overwhelmed but just the opposite. She enjoys finding the different characters and talking about what they are doing. The Farmland Math is perfect for her age and development. The activities are short and interesting. The only item that I am disappointed in is Plus/Plus set. The pieces are hard to connect and the pictures they are to follow do not look like the real object making them too abstract for my granddaughter. All in all I am pleased with the kit.
