Sleeping Beauty Smart Game
If you have liked the quality of past Smart Games, prepare yourself for this fairy tale magnum opus. Sleeping Beauty is a game beautiful enough to display, and with only eight pieces, you can do so safely. This variation on the traditional Sleeping Beauty story includes a magnificent dragon, a delightful addition most children will embrace. Sleeping Beauty introduces 30 challenges without the dragon and 30 much more difficult challenges with the dragon.
For the first challenges, recommended for about ages three and up, your child can either move his knight through the maze to rescue the princess or move the princess through the maze to escape on her own. Players rearrange the maze between challenges, which increase in difficulty. Sleeping Beauty, with its many mazes to be solved, is perfect for younger children because it develops their fine motor skills as well as their critical thinking skills. Moving the figures through the labyrinth will prepare your child to make similar movements when he learns to write.
However, that is only half the game. Flip the challenge book over, and now your child has to find the right place for the dragon to fit so that he blocks all routes to the castle. These more rigorous puzzles are recommended for ages approximately five and up, though the soft plastic dragon is so appealing that younger children are sure to want to give it a try with adult help.
Sleeping Beauty includes the game board with four maze pieces, knight, princess, dragon, and the challenge book with 60 challenges. Also, if your family is into fairly creepy, weird, wordless storybooks, there is one of those included as well.
